Hi, I am Veena, the founder of Veena’s Market. As a child growing up in South India, my mom made delicious and healthy food every day. I didn’t know how lucky I was until I moved away from home and realized how much I missed her cooking! Not only was it difficult to find authentic recipes but it was also a challenge to find spices and other “unusual” ingredients. But I could at least call her for recipe help and she would occasionally send me the ingredients I needed. The idea for Veena’s Market came from combining my love of travel and passion for good food. From discovering new ethnic grocery stores to cooking a new recipe, I loved the thrill of stepping into another culture. But each foray into another cuisine was an adventure with mixed results. Veena’s Market is all about bringing you the thrill while ensuring good results. 

Our mission is to make it easy for anyone to try a completely new recipe. We make sure to send you the specialty ingredients so you don’t have to drive around town or spend hours to find each one. We also pre-measure the ingredients so you are not left with bags of anything you might not use again. And finally, we send you a recipe that has been tested with other novices so you can be confident of the results.

Ethical sourcing is very important to us. Most of our spices are organic. We continue to search for organic and also fair trade supplies for all ingredients. We have minimized packaging and use recycled content where possible. The shipping box and fill are made from 100% post consumer recycled material. The bags containing food are specially formulated to act as moisture and oxygen barriers, keeping ingredients as fresh as possible.
